About

Purpose
Mobility systems are built iteratively, adding tweaks and new services over the years that contribute to major improvements. As the industry moves into Mobility as a Service (MaaS), the same is true. MaaS is not built all at once, but involves smaller improvements over time leading to a major vision. Crafting and implementing a vision for improving mobility through technology, with the stakeholders it impacts at the core of the project, is how Civic Sphere helps transit operators, multi-modal transportation planners, and mobility professionals.
Founder
Janae Futrell, AICP, LEED AP, a city planner and architectural designer with 13 years of experience, is a specialist in mobility technology planning. Prior to starting Civic Sphere in 2017, she worked with the City of Atlanta as Senior Program Manager for Smart Cities and the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) overseeing work programs for the Regional Transit Committee and Human Services Transportation, which integrates disability, aging, and low income needs. Her work in Mobility as a Service (MaaS) began in 2012 with ARC. In addition, she has worked with John Portman and Associates, the International Federation of the Red Cross, Caritas Germany, and the Earthquakes and Megacities Initiative.
